This should probably be called the "F major song"
Needless to say I won't be trying to play this puppy.
I was thinking that too. I was also commenting to Jess, how far Jewel's guitar playing has come.
I was having a real problem with F in general - then I got my guitar set-up...again. There was an issue with the truss rod, so it was applying reverse pressure making the strings tighten when played. It was so tight, the neck could have snapped if someone really wailed on it. They also put the wrong guage strings on it, so for once, it wasn't all in my head. It's been so much easier to play now that it finally has the rigt set-up and strings. I can actually barre an F. I was like; "no way." And nobody was here but the parrot and the dogs. The parrot still tells me I suck. LOL
I always know when my guitars are off if I can't barre an F on the first fret.
Little trick for those who find it hard to barre - I down-tune my guitars a 1/2 step (high E tunes down to D#, etc) and capo the first fret. Downturning loosens the tension a bit and it's always easier to barre further up the neck. Even one fret matters. It also helps me keep the "Jewish girl shrill" out of my voice (I am, after all, a Jewish girl and come by it honestly), especially when a song is in the key of D.
When you capo the first fret down-tuned like this, it essentially puts the guitar back in standard tuning. The downside is when you capo around the 7th and up, the guitar starts sounding thin, especially if you are using a smaller instrument.
