“Who Will Save Your Soul” singer Jewel is performing in Las Vegas this weekend, where there’s been buzz that she may do a residency. But her brain is on Broadway.

“I am writing a Broadway musical with David Foster called ‘Lucky Us,’ based on the best-selling novel by Amy Bloom,” she told us while preparing for her One Night for One Drop collaboration with Cirque Du Soleil in Sin City on March 2. While the 43-year-old singer hopes her musical makes it to the Great White Way, it'll be coming here without her.

“I am not going to star in it,” she said. “I’m just going to be one of the writers, which for me as a mom is the best place I can be, because it lets me be home.” Jewel, whose last name is Kilcher, has a six-year old son from her from her 16-year relationship with rodeo cowboy Ty Murray, which ended in 2014.
