I swear she had a huge youtube account, too, but now there are only two videos, so that explains why I can't find it!

Damage control.  She pulled all the wacky vids she had up from her "lectures" and the weird staring one.  You're right, there were a shitfuckton of videos up.  It's all down since the book....or maybe, right before.  Appearances.  Wolf in sheep's clothing, false prophet....she sucks.

And I say that with, love, light and a believer in most things "new agey."

Also: In chapter 22, in the section that goes from meeting Kevyn Aucoin through the MTV Video Awards to the Tupac revelation, man, I felt her terror on the red carpet. I don't know if that's due to good writing or just the way I felt at the time, but it hit me.

I wasn't aware of the way (or when) she met Virginia either. That was pretty cool.

That was fantastic, the way she kept hitting the lock button. Aucoin made some killer product and his memory lives on through them.

Nedra is a sociopath, without a doubt. The way Jewel described the bit re: the vacation home? How fast she switched when backed to the wall? She broke for just a moment.

I've dealt with at least one sociopath and even with a good childhood, they are so smooth, so practiced and calculating, you lose yourself to some degree. There's a part of your mind that holds the image of that robot from the old Lost In Space series (Danger Will Robinson!!) while another part tells you that you are being ridiculous. It's similar to why even after Ted Bundy's girlfriend found the plaster of paris in their bedroom closet, as well as the fake slings, her mind wouldn't let her believe it was 'her Ted'. The rational part of her called her girlfriend, who she knew would turn him in, while at the same time sitting there in complete denial.

An acquaintance of mine, who's husband was sociopathic, literally ended up checking herself into a psychiatric hospital at the suggestion of her 'concerned' husband, who had been continually gas lighting her. When she did, he took all the money, sent the daughter to a school for troubled kids (she was a teen and had figured her father out) and got full custody of the son. He went from concerned to cold instantly. The psychiatrist at the center figured it out fast, since there was nothing wrong with her.

Dealing with people like this is just mind-altering.

 
 It's scary and when it's a family member; heartbreaking.  It's almost like trying to love an alcoholic or an addict.  They just never see past themselves, their life or their _____.  It doesn't matter what you do or say.  I think the lying is the worst.

Reading this book was a challenge. I hate to buy something and abandon it . I slogged through it hoping to find redeemming content. There is none. Just another episode of the current trend of tv reality shows Alaskan style. Look at me....look at me...... Just not believeable. I really wanted this book to be a great read. Just too many unrealistic happenings.......always some hero steps in to save the day. Even stories of possible stress related kleptomania were over the top. Jewel did not steal one bathing suit......she took four. Every instance was over the top. Sour grapes here? I don't want to complain just sharing my personal thoughts on my interpretation of this book.

Be careful not to doubt validity just because it doesn't mirror your surroundings or the life you lived. Absolutely nothing in this book is a fairy tale unfortunately and there are no "heroes" stepping in. The hero here is Jewel herself...primarily because she has been able to overcome the negativity of doubters throughout her life. ....and do so absolutely alone. Many can relate to all of her experiences... there are people who go through these circumstances in real life and it isn't played out on a camera. This book was therapy for herself above everything else. And next the book is for those of us who do relate and need assistance articulating what we have spent a lifetime trying to capture in written word. There is comfort in familiarity and in knowing what you have gone through isn't isolated. Perhaps a fictional novel would better suit the reading interests of those who want to escape the raw ugly reality of some people's lives.

Yep. It was mind-blowing in so many different ways. Even her neighbor, a guy, came and apologized, saying he thought something was off but never said anything.

All of those creepy videos got pulled sometime last week the best I can tell.  About two weeks ago I went online and they were all there..and I was guilty of "cyberbully comments" on Nedra's videos.  I guess others must have joined in and she took them down.  The only one left is something she didn't post but someone else posted of a live interview.  Look at the comments on that one....EDAs 'hatin' on mommy dearest on that one too.

3/5 for such a negative review...not bad. Way to fly the freak flag on your response! I've bolded what could essentially be a tagline for the book. I think you should tweet her with it and #NeverBroken and get a RT.

So, Nedra bat not have been all Jewel needed in a mother, but I can't condone cyber bullying. I feel like it's the antithesis of EDA-dom. Granted I haven't even gotten 100 pages into the book, but still...Jewel has moved on, there's no need for us to bad mouth her further. ☺

I don't condone any type of bullying.

I don't have a youtube account.  I don't comment on anything I disagree with.  An internet comment isn't going to change someone's mind.  But, I don't find a problem in pointing out Nedra doing the opposite of what she preached and using it as a form of control.  It's a real problem in the "new age"  and pagan community.  We take a lot of flack for our beliefs and the work we really try to do on ourselves in earnest.

I am a huge Ty Murray fan and have followed his career since day one. Also, Uncle Otto and Charlotte were my favorite characters in the program before I even knew Jewell was involved . It's a shame how things went down between her and Nedra. he sounds like a 'new age' type of personality. I am guessing that Nedra was a terrible businesswoman. when it comes to Z, well... I am always skeptical of anybody who 'channels' other beings. from an outsiders perspective they could have been a great con artist. I find it irritating. It does sound like it had a cultish feeling about the whole deal. for all I know Z could have took Nedra for all she was worth. I don't know. It was all around a bad situation. For Jewel It would be difficult to get over the one who is supposed to nurture you, but in turn comes to take you for all your worth. was it a matter of being controlled by mom? was it a matter of mom not knowing how to take care of her daughters fortune? It makes sense why her and Ty stuck together. life was a whrilwind. i imagine it still is living famously. finding some grounding is essential to any individuals well being.

I may have created a monster! We've watched videos and listened to PUtP too. She has suffered some losses in her life, and I forgot to warn her before The Shape of You came on. It broke her into little pieces. I'm kind of tearing up thinking about it now. But it's all good; she's loving this stuff.

I can't get onto the board from the laptop at her place, and can't figure out why just yet. Working on it...

Ok. I wasn't sure I was going to read this book since I already have like a ton of books on my kindle that I should have finished reading like a year ago (and some of them I have to read for work). But, after reading these posts now I clearly need to read it. I feel like I have gotten Nedra's view from her book. So, now I should hear Jewel's.

I remember the silent/stare video... I didn't get it at all. There's still a ton of videos on youtube about here, like this video:



which seems a little weird... but idk whatever. She still has her website up. So, it's not like she disappeared from the internet.
