I finished this book and Jewel makes it sound like she's never touring Europe again. :(

Sorry, y'all.

I feel like I knew all of the "big" revelations already, but I didn't know if they were true or not. Remember this:

https://books.google.com/books?id=KwoEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA7-IA5&lpg=PA7-IA5&dq=jewel+kilcher+inga+Vainshtein++lawsuit&source=bl&ots=xys8A34yGj&sig=SaRRgfWucvMY9MdHrtC3xTlz2ZI&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CCsQ6AEwAmoVChMI19eGo6OIyAIVy5ENCh1QVgaS#v=onepage&q=jewel%20kilcher%20inga%20Vainshtein%20%20lawsuit&f=false

“Carroll allegedly ‘convinced Jewel that any managerial advice provided by Vainshtein had to be approved by a ‘channeler’ named Jackie Snyder who purportedly evaluated the advice by communing with some entity referred to as ‘Z,’’ the section states and 'wrongfully urged her daughter to ‘evauluate’ Vainshtein and her job performance by subjecting Vainshtein to a sham psychological assessment.'”

No allegedly about it, now.

Spoiler: show
I haven't finished the book yet.  Almost.  But Howard called her on "Z" thing in their first interview.  He actually called her on ALL of the stuff she has in the book.  And Jaque, is who Violet Eyes and Shape of You is about.  I always thought she and Jewel had a "thing."  I'm kind of surprised, so far, by how she is treating the subject of romance and her relationships.  Like, the Swedish guy she was with...he just disappears and then gives her the money to buy the van.  In CDTD she goes into details about living in Colorado with him and leaving him.  I was waiting for the unrequited love part...maybe she circles back around.  Also, she mentions that she saw first saw Ty in 1999, but I recall it originally reported in 1998.  So, for me, some things do not add up.  Still, I like the book and don't care about her romances enough to be bothered by the inconsistencies.

Thus Spoke Zarathustra - is a book by Neitsche.  It's big in the metaphysical community.  I've read it.  He's like another Bobaji.  So, in a way - it can be shocking to people that aren't "new agey", philosophers or mythologists, to hear about channeling him.  Many people reference him and claim to chanel him.  It's not surprising and I don't discount any aspect of spirituality (especially based on my beliefs).

Again, the playing down of the influence people like Poltz, or Jaque had on her is what surprised me.  I haven't been rocked by anything I didn't see coming...but I have 2 discs left to go.

Yo! I'm back. How are you?  :flower:

I had given up on Jewel, but some months ago, after chatting with Emilie (who else?!) I decided to give her new album a chance. And I was glad: I love it.
Then I got her book on my Kindle - I read half of it and I'm really enjoying it. It's like the adult version of CDTD, where things are finally explained.

Welcome!
I like this album very much too, glas she's singing our favourite genre again

Thank you for the great review of Never Broken, I picked a copy at Jewels book signing in Birmingham on 17 September and haven't had time to get started in earnest, I turned to the pictures first thing while waiting for Jewels arrival, was just to excited to read then.

Oh, wow. I'm behind many of you in reading this and just finished the Wizard of Oz chapter, which compels me to say that the parallels she drew between Dorothy and her own situation at the time just knocked me out. I think we all know who the faux Wizard was.

...and another connection made, this time through the pictures. Lee Greene is the dude who was sitting with Jewel all three times that I've seen her photographed at Madison Square Garden for hockey or basketball games, although they did ID him as Ty Murray in the photo caption that one time...

Yeah, Nedra sucks.

In the physical book, the pictures are after page 203, but I have the enhanced eBook thing and I can't find the pictures. :(

Done.  WOW.

I can't say I didn't see the turn the book was going to take, but hot damn, Miss Jewel has some class.  I give her a lot of credit.

I give the book an 8/10 and the audio book a 10/10.

Between being a slow ass reader and hardly getting any time to myself, it's gonna take me forever to read this. Like it so far though.

By the time I finish, she'll release her retirement book... Always Broken: Hips Are Only Half the Story

I got my copy of the audiobook at Barnes and Noble, where I also bought the hardcover book.  I ordered the gold bundle, but being as screwy as I am, I can't read the signed copy - so, the touchable copy is the one I got at B&N.  That will also be the copy that goes on the bookshelf.
