From My Heart To Yours
JEWEL:
Sometimes I wear my heart upon my sleeve
Sometimes I sing my song
With a guy named Steve
Sometimes in Santa Cruz
Sometimes it’s San Jose
Sometimes I’m just singing on
in a town called Felton
I want all you to know
That tonight’s show
Is just a simple thing
From my heart to yours
STEVE:
Sometimes I have me a panic attack
When I’m lost inside that mall
And I think of my dad upstairs
And I want to give him and my mom a call
But they’re long gone
They’re floating on the evening zephyr
But tonight I’m here with Jewel
In Santa Cruz
I can’t lose, I can’t lose
When I’m in Santa Cruz
JEWEL:
Sometimes the magic night air
Has a mystery
As if all the stars
Hold all the keys
If I could read it like a book
And say take a second look
‘cause tonight, tonight
Well you might, just might oh
Even though it’s just a show
Well I ought to know
It’s just a simple thing
From my heart to yours
STEVE:
When I met you, you were 19 years old
We were surfing in Pacific Beach
We drove around all of San Diego
Looking for some people for some folk music we could teach
Found a place called the Innerchange
Change from within, that’s what it means
Nancy gave you a gig, the next thing you know
Tommy Mottola’s coming in from Sony records giving you a guitar
And then Neil Young said, “Hey Jewel!
“Won’t you come stay at my ranch in the Santa Cruz mountains
“You can use the Stray Gators as your band”
And you said, “Hey, Neil, can I bring Poltzie?”
And Neil said, “heck yeah”
Neil Young said “heck yeah”
And we’d into the studio and they’d weigh me before breakfast
And then they’d weight me after
And they’d say “that was a five pounder.
Damn that skinny guy can eat!”
And here we are and you’re 49
And I’m 63 where does the time go?
We’re younger than the stars up above
But tonight I feel like I’m with my friend with a heart of gold
Oh yeah I’m no fool
I will always, always love you Jewel
