Just got back from the first Milwaukee show. No crafting tonight - it's a fairly small lobby so there just wasn't room. Asked someone on her team why there was no meet and greet, and they said there just wasn't room in the venue with her having a band, staff, and family on the road.
The Northern Lights Theater is a fantastic venue (I've been to many shows here, including four of Jewel's). It only holds 500 people on two levels, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The acoustics are amazing. The stage was too small for her video screen, but the venue has screens on either end of the stage, and the way they are positioned, you can see them from the stage. It was fun watching Jewel watch some of the pictures on the screen. Her eyes lit up and she smiled while she was singing. Atz also stopped during the video of him and her yodeling when she was a kid, and pointed out that he was wearing the same shirt.
She was rather chatty tonight - asked the audience to tell her about themselves, did a brief Q&A, and was rather impressed with the song requests. Other than Foolish Games, no one was requesting hits. We got Break Me and A Boy Needs a Bike Tonight. Many people were requesting Mercy and she promised to play it, but must have forgotten.
Foolish Games broke my heart tonight in a way it never had before. I was on the verge of tears during most of the song. I've never heard her sing it before with such emotion and pain. I may be wrong, but she appeared to be on the verge of tears as well. The blues arrangement of Silent Night was also incredible.
Atz and the boys were pretty entertaining. Nikos is a rather handsome man! During White Christmas Atz was out in the audience dancing with people.
Great audience - you could hear a pin drop while she sang.
