So we're checking out Jewel stuff, and my lady loves her. She really, REALLY loves this song in particular. I know it's on Perfectly Clear but it's an older one, and Robby's Wiki shows performances dating from 1999 to 2009, but I want to get more background on it. Does anyone know about it, like where/when/why Jewel wrote it, and are there any Angelfood shows including it? I've looked through my meager collection and I don't have any.

I'd love to know more about this thing, and thanks in advance!

I was going to say that, I thought she said that in a live version...somewhere.  I never thought it fit, so I was thinking maybe I heard that part wrong.  Isn't it on Lullaby, too?

I think Cowboys lament or something like that was the dad song, it might be on lullaby, it starts off " Oh my angel, fly to me swiftly... " i could be wrong but i think they are 2 songs that sound similar

Yeah, what Echo said. I'm always getting the songs mixed up because the titles and everything are so similar. But I just found this live version on youtube where she talks a bit about her dad and such, so...

Three songs I get mixed up: Anyone But You & Loved By You (Cowboy Waltz), and Loved By You (Cowboy Waltz) & Cowboy's Lament. Generally speaking I like the songs, but I hate them because I find them so confusing!

I did the same thing.  Too many cow poke titles.  After 20 years, you'd think I'd remember.

Thanks to everyone for the replies! I guess I'm not the only one who got these songs confused. That's not an issue anymore because I've heard this one 71985 times now! (Georgie's laughing and threatening me with violence now.)

I've always wondered why the yodelling at the end of Cowboy's Lament and Loved By You were the same.

I've always liked this song even if it is country. Does Jewel sing "loved by you" in the song at all? Or is it always "i don't wanna be loved by anybody but you". Because I've always thought it was odd that the actual song Anybody But You, also on Perfectly Clear, doesn't actually use the lyrics "Anybody But You" instead Jewel sings "anyone but you."

Unless I'm a total idiot and completely wrong lol.
