I run an internet business and ship for a living. One of the biggest problems I face is customs and delivery on the other end. Customs can delay ridiculously long during the holidays. Some countries use private couriers for USPS international if you insure, and things are sometimes stolen. I have had to learn which countries are notorious for theft, and the best way to ship to each of them.

Each country has their own agreement with shippers. Some allow the US business end (UPS, USPS, Fed Ex) to look 'into' their system to track packages; others don't. On my end, tracking ends with a message 'in customs' and then I have to hand the tracking number to the customer, who tracks it on their end through their postal services. Can be frustrating for both shipper and shippee.

I like shipping to the UK because I get definitives, right up to 'it's been delivered'. I once shipped a diamond and platinum watch to a customer in the UK for his wife for Christmas, and I KNEW it was waiting for him at the post office, but when he went in, they kept saying it wasn't there. Christmas eve I told him to go into that post office and go all "New York" on them - bang is fist on the counter and demand it. He called a 1/2 hour later to tell me he had the package. Sometimes ya just have to go all "Ugly American"  :D

I know what you mean, for my work I know exactly what the "difficult" countries are. And most of the time also why. I even visited large and smaller depots from international parcel companies.

In my case we are perhaps a difficult one, especially for USPS, but not for Fed-ex. they did a good job even though they lost my parcel ones.
In this case the shop has made by far the most mistakes. and their communication lacked big time most of the times.

I informed the store about the bad shpe the vinyl records were in. I included pictures.
But they never answered me.
So just like every other time I reminded them about this matter.

I put in a little bit of drama:
I named everything that has gone wrong and told them I would answert every tweet Jewel said about things she sell with an answer about the bad service of Bubble up, I also told them I already scared people off on online Jewel-forums to buy anything.
I also informed them about the 2nd parcel I received and that it was in even worse shape, so the extra records were not compensating.

On this reminder I received an answer straight away:
Unfortunately, international shipping can be a rough process. But the good thing is that these packages are fully insured for damage. If you would like, we can send another package to you with high priority instructions to make sure it is handled carefully by the carrier. Please let us know how you would like to proceed.

I told them that if this would make chances any bigger on receiving the records in good condition, that I would like them to solve it this way. That was last friday, now I'm waitng for their confirmation.
To be honest I didn't expect anything out of it before I wrote it, if I receive these 2 in good condition It would be a bonus.

I normally do as well, I don't know why I'm such a tiger with this one.
Maybe I can start my own Jewel shop after this

My parcel arrived, well packed and nicely delivered. 1 corner was a little damaged but not due shipment, But even I get tired of nagging, so I decided to be happy with it.
The Jewel Store immediately send me an email (their first one pro-active) and asked me if everything was ok. I let them know eerything was ok and that I was glad this neverending story is finally over.

I don't think I will ever buy anything there again, but I am a collector so never say never.
