Did anyone else notice that she changed the line in the first verse from " I'm on my knees" to "Get on your knees", twice? She did the same thing on the NPR show, but at the time I just figured that she futzed up the lyrics. I don't even know if this means anything.

I think it's a little muck up.

Jewel does that in a few songs - gets real introspective for the first couple of verses and then directs her self-guidance at the audience in the last verse.  Off the top of my head, Flower is one of these and there are a couple others I can't think of right now, but it's a little thing she does.

And, yes, she then mucks it up in live performances  but we get the gist. ;)

I agree, she mucks up lyrics from time to time - I think in cases like this, she is directing the lyric at whomever she is thinking about when she's singing.  Depending on mood, it could be introspective or accusatory.  Or, what you said.

I think she just does whatever the hell she wants.  :)

She's said before she doesn't think she's ever really performed a song exactly the same way twice. When you write your own stuff, I guess you can get away with it. That's what makes every one of her performances unique.
