By now, if you've followed the interviews, you don't really need to read it!

I've actually read it twice. I'm good for now.  :jewelsmilie:

I made a start when I got it, but too busy at work and at home. actually I have free time enough, but being so busy I need the free time to clear my head. Maybe in a few weeks I can go on. I always need rest in my life to read long stories books and stuff...I haven't read so much the last 10 years.
No longer lend your strenght to that which you wish to be free from.

I'm about half way through the audiobook, and really enjoying it thus far - but it's hard to find the time to devote all my attention to it, which is why it's taking so long.

Having not seen many of the promo interviews, a lot of the information is brand new to me, and I'm finding it pretty riveting. And I'm almost embarrassed to be a male, based on all her tales of sleazy guys lurking around every corner. Hadn't realised the stealing was quite so out of hand either, but I'm guessing it all turns out okay in the end.

The latest chapter I listened to today was describing how the guy at the job wouldn't pay her because she'd turned him down the day before, and he then ignored her the next day. I was fully expecting that Nedra was going to march her back down there and demand she gets the money she rightfully earned, so was quite astounded (and frustrated) when she simply suggest they just live in their cars. Sheesh.

It's quite eye-opening, though, in general. For every Jewel that made it out of that kinda mess, there must be hundreds of thousands who get caught up in that murky web. Depressing, really. Am sure I'll chime in with some more thoughts in the not too distant future...

Not yet! I'm about 100 pages in. I'm really liking it, it's really engaging. Totally loving it. I keep reading it in her voice lol. I'm hoping the audiobook is available in Australia sometime.

Read it once the week it was released. Have the audio, but haven't listened yet. My nail tech started reading it (only knowing Jewel through me) and said "it's depressing. I had to put it down and read something happy. I'll get back to it later."

I just went back and listened to A Night Without Armor.  I think Jewel always had that dark side, but hid it...very well.

I had to put down the CD for that reason.  I was getting too emo, every time I would put it on.  I'll go back to it, when I can deal with my own crap better.

I would like to respectfully disagree. It is an awesome book with many insights into Miss Jewel's life, and you cannot possibly grok it by comments. It is a wonderful read.

By now, if you've followed the interviews, you don't really need to read it!
