Title: New album predictions
Post by: jewelwiki on May 09, 2020, 12:58:48 PM
So we know the new album is in production right now. I checked through the ASCAP repertory and found some songs recently registered. Including Grateful and No More Tears, there are 11 new songs here. She's said she wrote 200 new songs and narrowed it down to 10 for the album. Which of the songs below do you think might make the cut for the new album?

Song titles & writing credits in spoiler below.

Spoiler: show

1. No More Tears - Jewel & Tommee Profitt
2. Grateful - Marv Green & Jewel
3. Too Much Love - Jewel & Steven McEwan
4. Still Water - Jewel & Steven McEwan
5. Sparks Fly - Jewel & Steven McEwan
6. Prospector’s Prayer - Scooter Carusoe & Jewel
7. Orange Crush - Sam Hollander, Jewel, & Grant Michaels
8. Living with Your Memory - Jewel, Grant Michaels, Sam Hollander
9. At This Moment in Time - Scooter Carusoe & Jewel
10. Alibis - Sam Hollander, Jewel, Grant Michaels
11. Dance, Sing, Laugh, Love - Sam Hollander, Jewel & Grant Michaels

Marc Green also co-wrote Stronger Woman, and a few other unreleased songs.
These are the first songs co-written with Steven McEwan, Scooter Carusoe, Sam Hollander, and Grant Michaels

I think the first two will be on the album for sure :D
I really wish Jewel would include 'Different Kind of Free', that little snippet was so beautiful. 'Working Hard for Your Love' and 'When You Loved Me' were also good IMO.
'Dance, Sing...' was okay on the live stream but somehow didn't impress me much.

I don't remember Working Hard for Your Love. When did she do that one?

Well if that list is correct, I'll be skipping over No More Tears. I can't get into it. Maybe it'll grow on me, but I just can't see it.
I've been making myself to listen to Grateful. It's pretty good. I really like the chorus, I find myself singing along.

Yesterday I was watching some old vids on the Tube. Jewel and Poltz on stage together back in the 90s.  I know everyone changes and grows, which is a good thing... but... I miss that Jewel.

It's not an official list... just recently registered songs. Jewel has said that No More Tears and Grateful will be on the next album, the other 8? are up in the air though.

I hear you about 90's Jewel.

I think these three have a fair shot, too:

Before it Had a Name
Tenderness
We Are the Love We Give

They were getting a bit of a push for a minute there.

I think we all feel that about 90s Jewel.  The best song in this era is the one she did with Poltz and I bet there's zero chance of anything happening with that.

I'm glad we are getting all new songs for this album. PUTP was a bit of a let down for me since a majority of the songs were update versions of ones we've heard for years.

I really like this song! It sounds like old school Jewel to me.

I agree - it does have that bouncier sound! And it doesn't have that new shrill voice thing. It sounds like a bootleg song, though, so I don't think it'll make the cut.

Well.. that sucks.. lol

"new shrill voice thing" - that's a good way to put it. Sometimes its a bit overdone.  :hide:

Yeah, a lot a lot a lot of bit. Not sure if it's the live stream mic or what but I'm having a really hard time with it.

She sand 2 new songs recently, Almost and Long Way Around. I think Long Way Around will be on the album, but I'm not sure about Almost.

Almost sounds too much like Silent All These Years by Tori Amos.

It kind of reminds me a little of Damn the Daisies, too.
