Hello all! Thanks for organizing this. It sounds like it will be lots of fun.
For those that don't know me yet, I've been an EDA for a long time, however, I haven't been very vocal on forums or on social media. My name is Anna, I live in Florida, and am pursuing a Ph.D. in School Psychology. Um.. what else... ? And... I feel like my life revolves around school right now. :crying:
Happy secret santa-ing! :santa:
-
Is this happening soon Jess? :flower:
Hi Anna - welcome!

All sent!!
-
Yay!! Love my Santee!

Thank you for organizing Secret Santa again, Jess

I received a package from Paris today...! Can't decide if I want to wait until Christmas! I'm so excited!! :woohoo:
-
From Paris? Nice .... but not probably from your secret santa. ;)
-
Woah! Really? Now I'm more intrigued!
-
I opened it tonight...It's a DVD for an indie flick called The Fly Room that I ordered for my boss! I didn't realize it was being shipped from Paris! I'm glad you made that comment Jess, otherwise i would have given my boss her gift late!
-
Phew lol!
I got mine today!! :D
-
Just mailed my Santee's package!! Might come a day aftee christmas but that's okay. =)
-
So i was at my parents for the holiday weekend, but i got my package tonight!! Ill be posting pics soon, but my Secret Santa is a fellow boarder!
-
MattHas was my secret Santa this year! I received my package last night!
There was a nice note, and 4 wrapped gifts! I wish I had stalked my Santee better, but hopefully he likes what I sent him. :)

Matt sent me a FashionABLE scarf (Jewel's tweeted/promoted their products http://www.livefashionable.com (http://www.livefashionable.com)), a rainbow ornament from a local artisan, test tube shot glasses (since he knows I'm working on a biomedical sciences PhD), and these tiny Forest Spirit figurines from the anime Princess Mononoke (I already spread these around my desk in lab). See the attached pictures! :D

See the attached pictures! :D
Very nice! But I don't see any pics?
I tried to cyberstalk my Santee but didn't find out much about them other than what I already knew. I hoped to make it a bit more personalized. Hope they kinda like the stuff anyways. Being the only Canadian on the board (I think) I put a bit of a Canadian twist on some of the gifts. :)
-
Donna, when I originally posted, the pictures were too large as attachments so I embedded with Imgur. I re-attached them in case the Imgur images aren't showing up. :)
-
Chris was my Secret Santa and he sent me some guitar strings, a nifty chord book, some delicious bark (that my guests all ate on Christmas :( ) and a candy bar.
I forgot to take pics, though. :lolsad:

Speaking of.... So Donna Sue was my santee this year! I probably won't get around to actually posting pics, but I'll vividly describe everything she got me, haha!
I got a package of Canadian Smarties (kinda like M&Ms from what my taste buds can tell...) I've been rationing them as snacks at work. I got a book of "Quotes That Every Man Should Live By," I got a box of Mexican-inspired push pins.. they're little sombreros, avocados, and tacos. Some have been put to good use, but the sombreros will probably just end up being tacked on top of people's pictures on my corkboard, haha! I got a Tim Hortons (Canadian starbucks, I'm guessing?) mug-ornament. A 4-in-1 Pen tool that includes! A pen, a ruler, a Level (For all the important things I need to hang) and a screwdriver. And lastly, some seeds so I can grow my own spinach. What a haul!
Thanks Donna!
-
You're very welcome Matt! Glad you liked the stuff!
Yes, Smarties are similar to M&Ms although we have those in Canada as well. Smarties rock!!! And Timmies is kinda like Starbucks but not quite as fancy... lol. Maybe more like your Dunkin Donuts? :) Canadians love their Timmies, in fact I was just there this morning... lol.
-
I had smarties many times growing up. I think they're better than M & M's, but that's just mho.
-
:santa:
Donna Sue, I love Tim Horton's as well, got my morning coffee every day over the last week while in central Ohio for Christmas. Meeting spot for annual reunion with one of my dearest friends. We spent about three hours this year.
My Santa was Jess, will include photo of my surprises soon, need a little time setting up the picture, there is a definite Arizona theme. Wonderful place to visit and see the sights. I haven't been back since the mid-80's, need to go again. :tumbleweed:
:santa: Ho! Ho! Ho!

New Year's resolution: board more! :)
My Secret Santa was Robby! He sent me a sweet card saying that I was one of his first EDA friends (which made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Haha). And it had a thumb drive full of angelfood attached (thsat I'm currently listening to). He even drew a sharpie angel wing on it (sadly, it wore off shortly after I opened it. :(). He also sent me Terri Sabol's children's book, which is so cute.
Thanks, Robby; I love them!!! :D
-
My Secret Santa was Sandy! :santa:
I received a funny Christmas card, a Blessings Jar (which are all the rage I hear) and a lovely homemade banana bread! I love my gifts, thank you so much Sandy!!
-
New Year's resolution: board more! :)
No kidding! - Ya newb with 3 whole posts... lol.
-
I've been neglectful and absent for too long! I'm baaack.
Thanks to Anna for the lovely makeup kit! Definitely comes in use for my nights out. Since I started working form home, I am always in pj's and workout clothes, so when I get the chance to actually put on adult clothes, wash my hair, wear big girl shoes and do make up, it's a treat!
Your welcome, Donna. I received one last year and I loved the idea! I hope you make good use of it!
-
:bump:
Anyone interested?
-
Yup! :santa:
-
Count me in :D
-
So.....
If this isn't happening, that's perfectly fine. Or if so, I would like to know if I'm either buying for Jess or Mr. Joe... :w

Folks - need those addresses!!
-
Thanks everyone - Santees have been sent!
-
We're sending ours out today UPS 3-day!! :santa:
-
I have to apologize to my santee ahead of time. I was late bringing my package to the post office for sending in time for Christmas (my bad). In addition, once I got there I was told from Canada Post I was not allowed to send what I had in the package. Apparently they are really cracking down on what Canada can send to the US. So, I needed a plan B on what to send which took a day or two to get organized. Therefore, the gift will be late and not what I intended to send in the first place. I'm so sorry. :( This was not an issue last year at all.
-
I ordered a little thing for my santee that was supposed to arrive last week and it never came. I had to send my package without it. :(
I'll just mail it when it arrives ... in freaking March probably!
-
So, Jess was my Santa this year. :) I got a card, some candy and cookies, and some horror stuff. Love it. Thanks! :D
Also, sorry to my Santee but I've had to send their present after Christmas. Shouldn't be long, I hope!
-
Glad you liked it! The other little bit just arrived today, so we'll get it in the post next week. :) it's a tiny thing.
I got mine, too! I'll post pics later. Thanks, Donna Sue!
-
You're very welcome Jess!
My Santa was Mr. Joe. :) I got 3 lovely Jewel songbooks (Greatest Hits, Spirit, and PoY), a journal and some chocolate! Plus a very nice card. It's been over a week since I've picked up my guitar (that's a long time for me!) but plan to totally get back into it in the new year.
Thank you soo much John, I absolutely love them all, and they will totally get used!
-
HAPPY NEW YEAR,S have a safe and great new year,s. :toast: :toast: :woohoo: Randy and I are having a great one.Loving every min. loving each other.
-
I never received a gift this year :(
-
I know your Santa sent something! I guess it's held up at the post?
-
Thanks! I will be on the look out!

Happy New Year EDAs
Sandy was my Secret Santa this year, :sandy: we loved the Banana bread, it was gone before I could get a picture to post.
My son wants the receipt, loved the chocolate chips in the loaf.
The shortbread cookies were excellent of course, one of my favorites always. ;)
Sandy I was not able to get to any of the Homemade Christmas shows, disappointed, :lolsad: so no souvenir. Thank you so much for the cup coozy with the Show logo, it caught my eye in the early press releases for the show. Will be special to me.
-
Yay! I'm happy you liked everything, John! I'll post the recipe in a bit. I think most EDA's have had my banana bread at this point. The amount of frozen bananas I have in my freezer is a little insane. Haha
Happy new year!
-
Sandy's banana bread is definitely bomb! :D
-
I may have to bring some to Vegas...ala TexFest.
Tracy was my SS! I seems to have a drunk crazy cat lady reputation...hmmm
I love everything! That chex mix treat was gone in under a week. Must double up the time at the gym.
Thanks again, Tracy!

Anyone want to do Secret Santa this year?
:santa: or :grinch:

It's that time already! I'm in as always. Have to put my Jewel Christmas CD's in the car and load to my phone. :D :santa: ;)

FYI - I don't save addresses year to year, so make sure you PM me your preferred shipping address to participate. :)

OK Jess, it's done, :grandpa: ;) :santa:
-
I've never done Secret Santa before but it sounds fun!! What are the rules?
-
It is super fun!!
It goes like this:
1. PM me your preferred mailing address to receive your own package. It doesn't have to be your home address, but if you use a company address, make sure to include the "c/o" line in the address so it doesn't get turned away.
Format:
Name Surname
c/o Company Name (if applicable)
123 Fake St, Apt #00
Fake Town, AZ 85555
USA
This address will be sent to your "Santa" but you won't know who that is until you receive your package. Don't worry about creepers - I always at least know of everyone who's participating. This is a pretty small fan community!
2. On November 21st, I'll PM you someone's address. This will be your "Santee" and they will not know you're sending them a gift until they get it. Gifts are usually around $20 - $30 - not huge, but it's nice to add a little card and maybe some cookies or candies. You know, like a little care package.
3. Try your best to get the package to the post office in time for Christmas arrival. USPS shipping takes about 7 - 10 working days to get to their destination if shipped standard within the USA/Canada. Overseas shipping can add a week to that. If you don't want to ship overseas, just let me know and I'll make sure you get a domestic recipient.
It's super easy and super fun! Please let me know if you have any questions.
-
Last chance to sign up - Santees go out today!
-
I'm going to pass this year Jess. Canada Post is doing rotating strikes so who knows when it will get mailed. I also remember last year having issues with what I was trying to send to the US.
Hope you all get something great!
-
Hi all! This is Henrique... I had the pleasure to meet some of you in Nashville! This is my first post with this username... Not sure what happened with my previous account...
Anyways, just wanted to say that I'm really happy to participate in the secret Santa this year (my first time) :santa:
Today was gift wrapping day here, yay!!
-
Hi, Henrique! I got mine! Haven't opened it yet. I always wait until Christmas.
-
Nice, Jessica! Hope you like it :)
Ps: I'm laughing so hard here with the emojis in this forum :rofl2:
-
:santa: My gift package might get to my person a bit after Christmas if it doesn't get there today.
-
Henrique, my gift is amazing! I am having some of the new coffee now and it's awesome! Might be my new favorite!!
-
Hello EDAs, Happy New Year.
Jess was wanting to check with you about the secret santa this year, I haven't received any thing yet and was wondering if you had any info. I left day after Jewel's WWT and returned in early January, but nothing from post office and nothing left at my apartment complex office so evidently nothing came. I've never seen EDAs not respond, if they had a problem a card would be appreciated. A gift is not important but the community friendships are. :grandpa:
-
Your Santa is checking with the USPS to see where it is and will get back with me when they have that info. Thanks for the heads up!
-
Should see it next week, they said.
-
:bump:
It's been a weird year, but is anyone feeling it? I could use a random lovely from the world. <3
