Lyrics:
A rose will start to fade
Without rain and some warm sunshine
It’ll die every time
Fence - you’re always on the fence
You’re one foot in and you’re back out again
I think it’s time I let you know
Babe, I’m letting go
You don’t have the right to choose
About me and you
What good’s a heart that’s
Too damn tough to break, that’s
Too damn cool to take a chance on love
Yeah I took a chance on us
Now that I look
Like I’m just a fool I
Think you oughta know
You’re just a pretty faced fool who let one get away
You let get away
Go dance in those city lights
‘Til your blind then maybe you’ll see
It was me, it was me
And I’m gonna learn to rise again
Like a thunderbolt, I’ll strike again
I ain’t gonna let you burn me out
So c’mon tell me now
What good’s a heart that’s
Too damn tough to break, that’s
Too damn cool to take a chance on love
Yeah I took a chance on us
Now that I look
Like I’m just a fool, I
Think you oughta know
You’re just a pretty faced fool who let one get away
What good’s a heart that’s
Too damn tough to break, that’s
Too damn cool to take a chance on love
Yeah I took a chance on us
Now that I feel
Like I’m just a fool, I
Think you oughta know
You’re just a pretty faced fool who let me get away
You let me get away
You let me get away

Pretty Faced Fool,” by Kip Moore, Brett James and Dan Couch.
“My friend Kip Moore wrote this and he’s a really dear friend and a really great talent. He’s been with me through a lot of what I’ve been going through. He played me this song and I really loved it. As much as I’m a really big fan of songwriters, I don’t find many songs that I feel sound like me, but this song really resonated.”

No you sure aren't - and good use of one of my favorite memes! ;)
-
I still haven't listened to this. I'm not gonna until I have the album in my hands! :D
-
I'll definitely listen to the pre-released tracks - it's the snippits I didn't want anything to do with.
If Jewel put out albums like Dark Side of the Moon, I'd be waiting right with you, though!
-
Has anyone tried to come up with chords or a tab for this one yet?
-
Yeah, no problem. Easy as apple pie. :)

You're awesome. I'm going to call this song "I Can't Play F" from now on. :blueguitar: :rofl2:

For a long time, Jewel used to struggle with it, too, and she had two cheaters...
Either she didn't play the bottom strings at all, and went like this:
e - 1
B - 1
G - 2
D - 3
A - X
E - X
Or, in many songs, she'd go for opening that top e, which is actually like an Fmaj7 or something like that, but it still sounds nice.
e - 0
B - 1
G - 2
D - 3
A - X
E - X

Yes, Jewel and I had a sit down in my living room () and discussed how I need to learn how to really play before I play any of her stuff. Although, I have employed her finger picking style to better find the strings, so I don't have to look. It's actually pretty cool to listen to her and watch how she plays. I always did, but not to this degree. And I have found that I find pieces of her songs as I just screw around. I guess because I'm listening to a lot of her down stuff and playing minor chords. I was cranky last night. Stumbled upon the new tabs after I had numbed my right hand. Strings are 11 gauge, so after 3 hours - ouch.

:that:
I have no patience to learn the F chord. There's several Jewel songs that don't have it... so I concentrate on those.
I figure she started out writing songs when she barely knew how to play guitar.. some of her early ones are likely some of her easiest for that reason, like WWSYS, Don't, etc.
3 hours??? How do you sit for that long... my back gets sore after an hour! :indifferent:

I have CT/RA so my hands are my biggest issue. I break practice into 3 pieces - chord work, finger picking, and strumming. I change position, sitting, standing, and even just laying in bed. I'll lie down and finger pick - no looking. It's just what works for me. I have to be on the computer for work - all day. It's been an awesome way to unwind. Plus, I make up little cheats for myself since my hands are weak. Plus, I don't watch TV. Maybe a total of 2 hours per week. Unless, I'm on a binge.

Wow - you are dedicated! I sit at a computer for much of my day as well.... I just find I need to be in that 'proper' position to play the guitar, since I'm still not very good I don't want to put myself at a disadvantage by not having everything 'lined up' just right. ;)
I LOVE fingerpicking, it's my fave, and I try to do everything without looking as much as possible. I'm pretty good at finding my way around the strings without too much difficulty. You had mentioned Jewel's fingerpicking style.. is there a specific one she uses? I can't tell just by watching her what she does. Of course everything she does sounds good to me!
I don't really like strumming all that much.. maybe its because I'm just not very good at it. I need to do what you do and break it down and make sure I practice everything equally. Thanks for the tip!
I agree, it's a nice thing to do to unwind. Hmm I think I'll start a thread asking what others do, just out of curiosity. :flower:

I'm really not dedicated...I just need to keep my mind active, lately. I used to play drums, but after sitting all day my body was too tired. So, I switched to guitar. Plus, I broke my ankle a few years ago, so my bass is a little slow. :grandma: And the parrot - LOVES guitar. He loved drums too, though. Kinda funny he has his own taste in music....and we don't always agree.

Like the way you observe things around you, i.e. notice your parrots reaction to your playing.

Hard to ignore when he yells; "you suck." He has my sense of humour. Which is both entertaining and unfortunate. :rofl2:

If you roll your finger a bit so you are barring with the side rather than full-on front, it's easier. Also it's easier to barre if you are capo'd up a fret or two. Sometimes I will down-tune my strings 1/2 step so I can capo on one to get standard tuning to barre the F easier. On a side note, if your guitar is not set up properly. barre chords are pretty tough.
The other alternative is to move the key up or down to eliminate the barre. I tend to try and move everything to the key of G because I sing best there. C is fine too. If the song starts with a D chord, if I'm not tuned down a 1/2 step, I feel like I'm channeling Elmo.
