Title: Tunes on tour
Post by: Echo on March 20, 2016, 06:05:28 PM
Is anyone else having issues when trying to buy a concert?

I haven't tried to buy through the website yet, but I did use my download code for last night's show and didn't have any issues.

Im trying to buy the one from the 18th, and last nights. Maybe because im using my phone. I guess i can use my laptop after work.  And now it looks like we need her to sing You Lied. Since we have Without you by my side and Think im falling

I shouted You Lied later in the show and her head jerked like she was slightly taken aback. I was hoping she might segue into it after GAIW, but she didn't.

I think TunesOnTour says that you can't download their shows with any iOS devices (iPhone/iPad, etc), you have to download with your computer first. The download comes as a ZIP file and I don't think iOS will handle those properly and sync it to iTunes from your phone. You gotta do computer -> phone. Not sure if it's similar with Android or not. I downloaded to my laptop then synced to my Google Music account.

I figure i can bug her for it at the meet and greet. Well hopefully the laptop usage solves the problem. Hows the sound quality?

It's great so far! I haven't listened with headphones all the way through, just skipped around a bit. Well worth the twenty bucks!

Linda posted this on Facebook as she seemed to be having problems even with a computer:

Quote
If anyone is having issues purchasing from the Tunes On Tour site (it was not allowing me to pay), open a second browser window and log into paypal in that window. For some reason, that made the difference for me. Perhaps the code that bounces you from their page to Paypal is not working right. Or the site knew Kenny was gunning for it, because only after we talked did it snap-to

It went smooth as a whistle for me.  This sure is a cool thing! :)

Kinda wish it didn't require you to use paypal, though...

Good job getting WYBMS, Robby!!

Eventually, I'll buy all of these, but at $ 20.00 a show ... phew!  That'll add up fast!

I just bought the one from the 19th.  Didn't have a code.  Just went to Jewel's site and did it through PayPal without setting up a Tunes on Tour account.  Went through and downloaded right away.

I'm really impressed with the sound quality for a live recording.  Not an easy task.  Totally worth it (IMO).

Regarding the bug that doesn't allow you to check out. I think there is an issue with the call the software is trying to make to Paypal. I found that by opening a second window on your computer and logging into Paypal, THEN going back to Tunes on Tour to check out works well.

Note that this worked using Safari. Would probably work in Chrome. When I tried with Firefox, the Tunes on Tour site actually re-routed to another site automatically. Very strange!

I'll notify Tunes on Tour.

I went for the one from 3-19-16.  It's fantastic.  Real nice sound quality.  I have to space out the purchases at $20 a pop.  Still, I chose that one becaue of the day she did the show.  I don't know that you're going to find a bad one...just a guess.  I'd go for song selection.  They all seem like masters from the board.  Best way to go for live recordings.   :music:  She is on point!

I love how the little spoken word poetry bits of these sound almost like they're studio masters the way the entire crowd goes deafeningly silent.

Is Alan running the sound board for her?  If he is, he is a true master.  I have nothing but respect for these recordings.  Well worth the cash.

I don't think he does. I retweeted a soundboard fella for one of these show and he was definitely a local guy

I think they are studio masters. They dim the lights and the audio comes through, and it sounds a bit different from when she's talking at the show. The shows have been opening with a reading of the poem from the Picking Up the Pieces liner notes, then Jewel comes on stage to sing SOtR.

Anyone notice there have been no additions to the Tunes On Tour side re: shows?

I really want to buy one that includes Pretty Faced Fool.

I could be wrong, but I thought I saw somewhere that it takes about a month before they're added.  I also think they add all the shows from a particular month at once.

Yeah, I keep checking. The 3/19 show was added almost immediately, but there's been nothing since then... :(

I bought one of the earlier shows, by just going to the Jewel store that Jess posted the link for.  I didn't have to register for an account or anything.  I was able to purchase and download through Paypal.

At the shows, at the merch table, they're selling a CD sleeve with the Tunes on Tour logo, signed by Jewel.  It's $20 for the sleeve, which has a download code on the back. According to the sleeve that I bought at the Bethlehem Show, the download will expire in 30 days after posting to Tunes on Tour.  Allow 7-10 days for posting, most available in 2-3 days.  I had to set up an account for this, and the Bethlehem show, is not up yet.  Maybe they decided not to post any more shows to the store.  Only if you go to the live.  I honestly, have no clue.  I was surprised to see the sleeves.  I'm glad I decided to go into the merch room.  Initially, I wasn't going to bother.

She played, See Sassy, on her New Blue (Taylor).  It has a deeper sound than the 912.  I loved it!

QUESTION:
Is anyone else buying more than one show and putting it in iTunes?  I had another show and it merged them both together as one album - since they're all encoded with the same album name.  I'm wondering if I have to hand sort all this, or if I can just change something before imporing the file to iTunes.  I did try, but lately, me and technology  :ragecomp:  Thanks.

Ah, that sucks.  The upside is, windows makes it easy to fix - just highlight all, right click, go to properties, then Details tab and change the name to add the city it was in.

I could swear the GH tour got this one right.

My google play account mashes them together, but my normal phone music player keeps them seperate.

Did you do the meet and greet Nobody?
Im curious how parts of it work.

I did.  Jewel, is just as amazing as she was 20 years ago.  Maybe more-so, if that's possible.

ANOTHER QUESTION for the STUPID (me):
When I downloaded the concert that I purchased at the concert, it said 4 more downloads available - can I download it 4 more times?  I don't know that I have use for that...anyone know?

By the way, I'm listening to the concert I went to - and boy did they do a lot to equalize the audio.  The crowd was freakin' nuts and you can't really tell.

I usually re-title the album name for the tracks. You can do it for several tracks at a time. It's easier if you add them one album at a time and retitle the album before adding another.

To fix your issue, you should be able to sort by date added in iTunes to figure out which album is which. Then rename them appropriately. You can select multiple treks by using the control or shift keys. For control clicking, you have to select each one. For shift, click the first track in the list, then hold down the shift key on your keyboard and click the list track. That should highlight all tracks tracks between them. Then right click and select get info, I think and type a new album name with the date.

Yes, that means you can download it 4 more times. I think the extra downloads are in case you lose the copy you downloaded? Hard drive crash, etc? I dunno.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.  You're always a font of knowledge, wikiman.

I don't use iTunes often enough anymore, to stay on top of how the endless updates work.  I made a playlist and pulled them out manually.  I love my iPod (classic  :grandma:) - I loathe, iTunes.

Curious about the extra downloads.  I do back-ups, weekly.  I wish I could use them for other available shows.  Can other people use the download code with their own log-on ?  I mean, I already paid for them...

That SUCKS! :( It's not available for purchase yet, either.  I'll probably buy it when it's available and if you still can't get it by then, I will share a copy with you.

I hope they get back with you on it soon!

Nice Jay, nice to have it as such a great memory, and this way it's very easy to recall.

I received a recording (at this forum) from a concert she gave in Amsterdam (which I visited), It was so great to listen back to it and to finally get to listen it back after more than 13 years. I still get excited when I think about it, and it's good to hear back once in a while. I'm also still very grateful that Jess shared it with me.

They should let us buy a song if we want to. 20$ for a cd is too much for me... I would love to hear See Sassy and Without you by my side but I just think its way too much money for 2 songs Im interested in.

We just got our download of the Wilmington DE show. Worked fine, sounds great!

I'm right now burning it onto a CD so Georgianna can listen in the car whenever she wants.
